It is sealed with a short savasana (relaxation).

Think of Yin Yoga as an internal sigh for your body and nervous system.

The yin to balance the yang, this restorative style of yoga offers the time to go deep into your body.

ABOUT

Poses are held for 3–5 minutes each, targeting fascial stretching and gentle joint and ligament stress. This practice focuses on releasing the fascia; connective tissue that sits under the skin and wraps around muscles and organs throughout the body.

A beautiful practice to counter the busyness and stresses of daily life.

PRACTICING YIN YOGA:

Calms and balances the mind and body.
Reduces stress and anxiety.
Increases circulation.
Improves flexibility.
Releases fascia and improves joint mobility.
Balances internal organs and improves the flow of qi or prana (energy)

I offer classes via my online membership or in person at CityFitness if you have a Premium membership.

Questions & Answers

  • The most important thing is that you connect with your teacher. After a couple of sessions you should be able to tune into your body and use their voice as a guide. Try our 7-day free trial to see if my style is right for you.

  • This style of practice was originally modelled on Ashtanga yoga in an attempt to make it safer and more accessible to Western students coming to yoga later in life.

  • YES! As an experienced teacher, I takes into consideration all fitness and experience levels

  • Modern-day philosophy is blended into the class. Nothing airy-fairy, just a gentle reminder to stay present and take what you need from your practice. We often use yogic philosophies which are beautiful lessons we can all use to enrich our lives

  • This practice is great for everyone, particularly those who are new to yoga, have injuries, postural imbalances or are just feeling the effects of stress or high impact repetitive movements.

  • Absolutely! Yin is gentle and with the support of props, I will guide you through options to ensure your comfort in each pose.

  • Muscles don’t actually stretch. Once they’re at their full length you’re never going to get them longer. Passive Yin targets ligaments, tendons and connective tissue (fascia) that interweave within our bodies and can be stretched.
